This hard hitting session also features the inspired playing of Steve Davis on trombone, the cool comping of Anthony Wonsey on piano, the steady underpinning of Mike Karn on bass, and the bombastic metrics of Jason Brown on drums. While the song selections are definitely straight ahead, the music is elegantly lyrical and brilliantly evocative of a more modern jazz sensibility.
